Gateway to 9th Leper Colony, Outskirts of Jerusalem 6:30 p.m. Local Time
The plight of the leper is well known in Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. Those afflicted by the disease are brought to places like this to live. The 9th Leper Colony is perhaps the largest of these colonies, where lepers are encouraged to live out their days among others with the same affliction. This is a place of sadness, pain, fear, and death.
There has been little excitement in the colonies about the race for Messiah. Many lepers have no hope for the future, considering their fate to be set. But something is different here tonight. Something has happened that has the entire region buzzing: healings. Not partial healings, mind you, but full blown, miraculous healings.
No fewer than 10 former lepers are reported to have been cured by Jesus of Nazareth in an unprecedented group healing event. Healings themselves are not unheard of, even full cures have previously been wrought through prayer and sacrifice, but the method Jesus used was unique.
"He didn't ask for a sacrifice," one alleged former leper insisted. "He didn't ask anything except for us to not tell anyone." The man seemed to realize something at that point, and quit taking questions, but the effect of his words is extraordinary. The leper vote has been largely ignored in the last several Messianic races, but this time it seems that not only are they set to vote in record numbers by absentee ballot, but they are nearly one hundred percent behind Jesus of Nazareth.
This may very well put Jesus ahead in the polls.
