Jerusalem 7:45 am Local Time
Here at my news scroll booth, I can literally feel the crowd growing larger. They almost toppled my table a few times, and I have lost more ink and chisels than I can well afford at this point in my career. Three brand new sheepskin scrolls were doused and are now useless for writing! Maybe I can trade them to that fellow over there with the chisel stand. He looks like he could use a break. Funny, I don’t remember him being there before.
The mood of the crowd is actually roughly the same as it was yesterday, but I’m sure the anticipation will take hold soon as we near the announcement from the Roman Quarter.
I see in the crowd a member of the Roman party. “Excuse me, sir! Mr. Soldier, would you care to comment on the rumors of Pilate’s candidacy? No? Well, how about a quote on your thoughts on the election? Ok then.”
The Romans have been pretty hush-hush about the whole thing, which of course leads to more speculation and an almost absolute certainty that Pontius Pilate will indeed announce his candidacy for Messiah at today’s assembly.
More on this at eleven.
