It’s another beautiful day in Judea and the order of the day is excitement as it is time once again for the annual “Race for the Cure,” a famous foot race dedicated to raising money for leper relocation and eventually, to fund research for a cure for this debilitating disease.
Health codes prevent those suffering from leprosy from actually attending this important race, but the race is being relayed to them live via semaphore stations set up around the region.
Messianic candidates are well known for their charitable work and this time is no exception. Jesus of Nazareth has long been vocal about his support for such programs and the need to take care of the poor. However, in a surprising twist, I have learned just this morning that not only is Jesus here at today’s race, but he is entered as a contestant.
Representatives from the Sanhedrin have been quoted as saying that favoritism of one charity over another is not the will of the almighty God. These crowds here seem to disagree. There are chants of “The Lord is Love” and “Heal the Sick” sounding throughout the crowd of spectators.
I have yet to see any of the other Messianic candidates in the running, so to speak, but former candidate Governor Pontius Pilate is a guest official and is expected to say a few words at the end of the race. Stay tuned for updates.
