Roman Praetorium, 8:00 a.m. Roman Standard Time
Good morning, folks. After a sound loss in last night’s debate, the fate of the Pilate campaign is uncertain. He has been heard to say that a long, hard campaign would be taxing on his family life; and a long, hard campaign is exactly what he will be facing for the duration. It’s an uphill battle for the governor after that abysmal performance.
One debate attendee was quoted as saying, “It’s not really his fault, you know. He’s not exactly well versed in Jewish law and he’s never heard of half the prophets. What did he expect, entering a race that is clearly beyond his scope? It’s a very typical Roman move, if you ask me, and he just finally hit that wall that we all saw coming. By the way, this is off the record, right? Or at least keep my name out of it? I don’t want any trouble. I mean, I’m just saying what’s already on everyone’s mind. Just cause they don’t say it doesn’t mean they’re not thinking it, right? Right? I have to go. Don’t print my name.”
The nameless and flighty man may indeed have been speaking what a lot of people are thinking, but refuse to say out loud out of a sense of self-preservation or lack of a need for drama.
We here at Good News Weekly do not support, nor do we oppose, the views expressed by those we interview. We also do not condone slander against any representative of the Roman Government, nor any of her citizens.
That being said, Pilate’s defeat has got to be embarrassing. It remains to be seen whether he will carry on through the next debate or pack it in and withdraw his candidacy.
