Jerusalem 9:00 p.m. Local Time
I’m standing here in the heart of Jerusalem where even at this late hour, people are hard at work rebuilding the giant abacus. Polling data is still being kept up to date by scroll, but I think everyone here will be glad when the abacus is back up and in use. The noise is nearly unbearable.
On the other side of the square, where it’s a bit quieter, workers are setting up the voting booths. The booths are made in a fashion reminiscent of the old style from the days of desert travel. Let’s hope it doesn’t take forty years to tally the votes.
We expected statements on the eve of the election from all candidates, but the campaigns seem to have gone dark.
The noise is picking up again and it’s getting hard for me to hear myself! We’ll break here and resume coverage tomorrow!
As always…
