Galilee 2:00 p.m. Local Time
It’s been over two hours now, and there is no sign of thinning in this crowd of well-wishers and supporters for the newest hopeful in the great race for Messiah. His name, of course, is Jesus. My sources tell me that Jesus hails from the small industrial town of Nazareth, located in the far north of the Judean province. Nazareth is known for its commercial goods such as furniture, knick-knacks, and wooden cheese carts.
The word on the street is that Jesus himself is the son of one of the top carpenters in Nazareth, a man of such reputation that he is known by one name: Joseph. When asked why he chose to enter the world of politics rather than go into his father’s business, Jesus answered, saying “I am about my father’s business.” Clearly a reference to the importance of carpentry in Nazareth, and in making him who he is today.
I have yet to speak with the man myself, but I tell you it’s amazing the way he can work a crowd. They simply love him here. He may be new to the political world, but he sure knew how to pick a spot to start a campaign. These Galileans are a loyal bunch and he’s not likely to find a more fitting group for his support base.
