Campy Post

I signed up for Camp Nano during the month of April.  I hadn't done camp before, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I hesitated, partly because virtual writing camp was an unfamiliar concept, and partly because NanoWrimo took such a toll on me that I wrote practically nothing in the first two weeks of December.

The Facebook sub-group I joined to get myself to write every day has helped immensely in developing a near-daily writing habit.  My numbers from January, February, and March made me fairly confident that if I pushed myself, I could hit a camp goal of 20,000 words.

So I signed up, decided to focus on my family drama story, which is a big reworking of an old story(but I'm still counting it as a first draft because I'm rewriting 90% of it).  This draft will be done this year, and April has helped.

April was also exhausting.  I have learned that I can push myself to attain writing goals, and that writing 500 words isn't so hard when you do it every day.  I have also learned that after attaining said goals, I need to take a few days off to recover.  It's like at Christmas time when you've eaten so much junk you don't even want to look at chocolate for...well, a few hours at least.

All-in-all, it was a good experience.  I can't say I'll do it again necessarily, but now I know I can, and that it's there if I happen to need a literary push.

Now back to my story and the decision of how sympathetic to make the evil ex-wife....
